I have worked exclusively in private practice mainly at universities and sports medicine clinics specializing in Sports and Orthopaedics Rehabilitation.
While working at the following institutions I had many opportunities to work with elite athletes helping them reach their athletic goals:
- University of Calgary Sport Medicine Clinic
- University of Victoria Physiotherapy Clinic
- Lindsay Park Sports Centre
Through the years, I provided onsite acute care at numerous sporting events at the local, provincial, national, and international levels.
I travelled extensively with the following national teams providing physiotherapy services during training sessions and competition:
- Canadian Senior Men’s Rugby 15 & 7 a side teams
- Canadian Alpine Ski Team
- Canadian National Snowboard Team.
Most recently, I travelled to Quebec with the Canadian National Snowboard Team for the FIS World Cup in 2011 and 2012.
I was the physiotherapist for the Canadian professional Snowboard Team circuit at the X Games and the Dew Cup. It was a great experience to be able to observe, and work with our national team athletes who performed very well at these high level competitions.
My yoga journey began about 15 years ago when I started practicing yoga to increase my strength and flexibility. I gravitated towards Anusara yoga, which is an alignment based yoga. I was so enthusiastic about learning more about yoga that I took my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2012. From that time, I started to incorporate yoga into the warm up and cool down routines of the athletes I was treating, helping them increase hip and spine flexibility.
I now blend physio and yoga into my everyday clinical practice.
I empower my patients with knowledge about their bodies to help them achieve optimal alignment and movement.
My passions for functional movement and teaching has motivated me to educated individuals beyond the clinic. I provide education to yoga instructors in order to increase their knowledge of human anatomy and pathology in their yoga teacher training.
I really enjoy helping individuals learn about their body and maximizing their performance in sports, work, and play.
I believe that education, individualized care, hands on treatment, and movement are key to a full recovery.
